BIO Photo Ron Smith was elected to the City Council in November 2006, and was re-elected to a four-year term in 2008, and again in 2012.  After 42 years in the grocery business, Ron is now working for High Sierra Industries, an organization supporting people with disabilities.  He has served on the Vistas Home Owners Association and the D'Andrea Home Owners Association

Councilman Smith recently served as Chair of the Sparks Redevelopment Agency and currently serves as Mayor Pro Tempore.  He is a strong advocate for transportation and infrastructure needs in the City, and is the 2012 recipient of the Public Official of the Year Award by the Builders Association of Northern Nevada.

Ron and his wife Karen have been married since 1980, and have four children and nine grandchildren.


As your current Sparks Ward 3 Councilman, Ron Smith was elected to the Sparks City Council in 2006. His positive performance on behalf of the City of Sparks was recognized and rewarded when Ron ran un-opposed in 2008 and retained his Council seat on the Sparks City Council.

Ron Smith is Councilman for Sparks, Ward 3, but he cares for and serves all of Sparks. Your entire Sparks City Council is leading the region by example because of better communications, cooperation and leadership. Ron recognizes the issues that are important to Sparks. He has always served the entire city and looks forward to continuing that dedication as Mayor.
